pinion gear oil seal

Noticing a small puddle beneath my differential I'm trying to change the pinion 
oil seal. That nut holding the pinion isn't left hand thread is it? It's a 
bitch to get off! Any suggestions?
 
I'm also planning to renew the dust covers and boots up front on the steering 
rack. Any helpful hints?
