I put it down to fashion, or marketing.

I can agree on the color thing, but why do they all try to sell us the same
car with different badges? Every Honda, Toyota, Kia, etc, etc. all look alike!
Where is the fashion in that?
I long for the old days when Dodges looked like Chryslers and Plymouths,
Chevys looked like all the other GMs, and Fords looked like Ford products, but
they all looked different from each other.
I occasionally flip through a Road and Track and see a comparison test of six
or more of the new vehicles and they usually have a page or two with nothing
but a front or rear view of the cars. Danged if I can tell one brand from
another.

There is a general place in your brain, I think, reserved for 'melancholy of
relationships past.' It grows and prospers as life progresses, forcing you
finally, against your better judgment, to listen to country music.
