Wire Wheel/Disc converison question..

Ok, another newbie question.  As I read it, wire wheels only went on 
Bugeyes if one converted to disc brakes.  I like both ideas from an 
aesthetic standpoint but I have no experience with 
driving/maintaining/installing..  what are the negatives to doing the 
conversion?
