My wife and I decided to boycott the increasingly commercial aspect of
Valentine's Day.
Instead of spending $100 on roses and another $200 on dinner, I made my wife
a nice romantic dinner. Smoked salmon with lemon and capers for an
appetizer. Followed by apricot glazed Cornish hens, mixed veggies, and wild
rice. All served over a few nice bottles of wine, candles, and a roaring
fire.
All things considered, our most successful Valentine's day yet. We're sick
and tired of all the commercials and advertisements, and the hiked up
prices. Since when does telling your significant other you love her/him
have anything to do with carelessly spending $300 on things that would cost
$80 any other day of the year.
