Don't start anything until you make sure the body is worth the work on
the drivetrain!!!! If you have extensive rust, you may want to
re-evaluate how much you are willing to spend. If all is well, then on
to the drivetrain. If it has been sitting for 20 years, I would
recommend pulling the head and checking the bore for rust. Remember,
some intake valves have been open allowing moisture in, as well as the
exhaust valves. Head gasket and intake gaskets are cheap insurance to
make sure the engine is turning smoothly. If there is surface rust,
WD40 and scotchbrite can work wonders. I know, I brought a seized
engine back to life doing the same thing. Try and drain your
transmission, the fluid inside may have hardened. Ask me how I
know..... If so, you will need to pull the engine and tranny as one
unit (easiest), remove the tranny side cover, and clean out as much as
you can. You also need to get yourself onto eBay and do a search for
a brake master for your car. You want the car to run, but it is more
important that it STOP!! The 67 brake master is specific to that year
only. I also will be getting a 67 soon, and I was able to procure a
new brake master off eBay for $15.50 (thank you again, Frank) You will
want to replace any rubber brake lines you have, like the ones that
are at the front, they will tend to collapse with age, and cause your
brakes to stick on. Get some kits to rebuild your rear brake slaves,
and your clutch slave as well. You can wait and see on the clutch
master, if it fails, it won't kill you like losing your brake master
can. It would also behoove you to see if you have a local parts place
that can get you parts. O'Reilly's can get a generator for it, if
needed. If you don't have any local assistance, we have 3 vendors on
the list that are a great help. It would be great if you get a Moss
catalog, 1-800-667-7872, and a Victoria British one as well,
1-800-255-0088. Get the catalog from them, they have lots of
informative photos and blow apart diagrams. BUT, you can order your
parts from the list vendors (at least I do). They sometimes get their
parts from the above two vendors, but then some also deal with
overseas vendors. The list vendors are a follows.

Paul Asgeirsson - Pasgeirsson@worldnet.att.net
Very helpful in locating used parts as well. ANY type of used part, I was
fortunate enough to find. A great guy as well.

Peter Caldwell of NOSImports - nosimport@mailbag.com
Also a great guy, and if you need your shocks rebuilt, the BEST
source for rebuilt shocks, bar none.

Ed Kaler - www.justbrits.com
A real pain in the ass, but if you can put up with some attitude,
he is also ALOT of help!! All kidding aside, Ed is the grumpy bastard
on the corner that no one wants to get to know, but once you do, you
are glad you did.

Get the car running, driving, and STOPPING, before you take it out on
the road for a sneaky test drive. Once that is done, get back to the
list for where to go next. I think that will cover you for a while,
best of luck on your new car! Congratulations on getting it!!
