Frank,
That's alot to think about, but I must say it's been in the back of my mind
since attending my first Spree this past Spring in Pa.
Being an avid Mini owner also, I am fortunate to be able to attend Mini Meet
East every year. In addition to that, once every five years, on the 5 year
anniversary of the introduction of the Mini, the Mini community from across the
nation bands together for East Meets West. This time around in 2004 however, it
will be called West Meets East. Those once in every five year events are
typically held in a more central location. This year it will be outside
Chicago.
Each year however for the seperate east and west meets, they are usually held
closer to their respective coasts and fortunately they are hosted by some of
the many local and regional Mini clubs. Usaully we count on anywhere between
100 to 150 cars at these annual events, and the same usaully goes for the East
Meets West.
It's a tremendous undertaking to stage one of these events, so to find enough
Sprite enthusiasts capable and willing to take it on every year may be
pushing it at first. It sounds to me that you are talking about it being a one
man
show with a few dedicated helpers, similar to how Rick has been handling it in
the past. How about once every other year at least, or at the most, every
third year. I agree...once every five years is just too darn long between
events.
