Thanks for all your suggestions! Just for now I wire-wheeled and steel-wooled the rusted parts, greased them with white lithium, and reinstalled. I'll look some more at rust convertors and naval jelly (which always sounds like some other kinda preventative!) and such at the local hardware. chuck |
