I haven't seen any posts re: the "Englishtown Run" put on by Dan Walters with
Frank C's help, so I will say it was a 'spridgets' event that many of you
easterners shouldn't have missed. Dan had mapped out an excellent route
through some of NJ's best back roads with some scenic towns thrown in and the
weather was perfect for top down driving. Excellent food & crafts were
available at the Englishtown Fair and the 'reserved' parking we had there
couldn't have been beat! Seems that when we got there we were the car show
for the fair and were parked dead center on the fair grounds. Everything was
only a few steps away from our cars.
The only 'problem' with the rally was that Frank, who lead the first part of
the rally, followed his motto of "drive it like you stole it". Most of
'scenic' Jersey was just a green blur that you saw out of the corner of your
eyes as we transversed country roads at 65-70 mph! We had our normal roadside
repair clinic when Kevin Valentine's (or is it Kathy's) car decided to
overheat. 'Kermit' decided to eat his speedometer on the way home and I kept
hearing a wierd sound up front. Today when I took a look under the bonnet I
found my coil hanging by it's wires where it had been banging against the
passenger footboard. Why one of the clip on wires, let alone the coil wire,
hadn't let loose is a mystery to me!
