Chris,
Funny what you say about that left lane.....I drive 160 miles a day on I-94
in my commute to work and it always seemede to me to be #1: Illinois drivers
(almost without exception complete dolts behind the wheel), and a close #2:
Ohio drivers who plant their butts in the fast lane and go exactly 70! Now,
we Michigan drivers, cruising at 93 mph, we deserve the left lane.
Otherwise, all you weenies in BMWs would think this was the autobahn! Go
ahead, mutha! Flash your highbeams one mo time!!
;-)

Rick, you don't have to go back to the '70's to be "out of it" with a
"furrin" car in Michigan. Shortly after I moved here in '91, my small town
paper had a news item on somebody's Toyota pick-up getting vandalized right
on Main St-- in front of the UAW hall. And they wouldn't let me into the
newly forming "old car club" because the bylaws read "cars of American
manufacture, build prior to 1970."
I drive through Michigan north to south at least once a year, and I'm always
surprised by how few foreign cars one sees on I-75. The farther north you
go, the more American cars and, particularly, trucks there are. I've gotten
the evil eye in a Honda, a VW, an Audi and a BMW going through those parts,
but when we take my buddy's Explorer or Durango, we fade into the scenery.
However, regardless of what I'm driving, Michiganders will NOT give up the
fast lane, which leads to folks swooping around to the right through slower
traffic to move up a few spots in line at a time. PITA and dangerous, too.
On the plus side, I cruised by a Michigan State Trooper up there a few weeks
ago with the cruise set at 93 mph, and he didn't even blink. My kinda
place, even if they hate me for what I drive!
