| In the process of rebuilding my wife's 79 midget I popped open the gear box
and found that the reverse idler was chewed up so I ordered a new clutch and
pressure plate, throw out bearing and the reverse idler gear as well as a
rebuild kit with. With what I hoped would be all the parts needed to do the
job I disassembled the box to find that there was a lot of metal on the
magnet and that the lay gear cluster is chewed up as is second bear. It
appears that a repair was done once before and someone could not count
teeth. Now I find that the lay gear cluster is not available and probably
would be costly if it were. Now I would like comments in regard to do I
continue to try and repair, replace with another gear box or convert. Ca
the 1500 be converted to a Datsun? Thanks for the comments.
Fred.
