OK, now I'm really stumped.
The ball end of the tie rod looks fine.
The nylon cup is discolored, but I can't see wear.
There is a spring against the cup and the Haynes manual says that spring
should only be there if the cup is steel.
There were two thick shims and one thin (.010 and .002 according the book),
but NO .002 space between the lock nut and the lock washer.
What makes sense to me is replace the nylon cup and lockwasher, space the .002
(but then again, this would make the slop worse), and drive. BUT can I buy
just those parts?
