I keep my shaft well lubed all the time.
I use some weird oil I have that is super slick. It was given to me by
Leo Spec???? from the list many moons ago.
I do end up pulling my starter (s) or engines once a year for one thing
or another, and I just clean and relube them. I have not bought a new or
rebuilt starter in about 30 years. But i will admit, I am getting tired
of patching them up.
