A coupla weeks ago someone posted to the list about a spare water pump for a
1500 on eBay. I bid 10 bucks and figured if I won, i'd keep it as a spare.
Well, I was the only bidder.
I didn't read the entire post very well when I bid, and after I won, I
noticed that he wanted to charge $20 shipping, plus $6 insurance REQUIRED!!
Well, I wrote the seller and we discussed spending $26 to ship a $10 spare
part, and he was very nice about it. I told him I would prefer it went
uninsured, because most shippers insure up to $100 without extra charge, and
I asked him to look into the cost of shipping the thing.
He came back with $13 for shipping, so I got the pump for $23 total cost. I
was happy with that. I received the pump about a week later. It is a
rebuilt water pump and housing, with thermostat housing, temp sender,
expansion tank and a whole buncha hoses.
An early Christmas present! I will keep it as a spare. And I gave the
seller positive feedback!
