I just removed and replace the front springs in a 69 Midget.
No jack, no bolts, no touching the spring perch either.
Support the car on jack stands, remove the top king pin /shock arm bolt
and tie rod end, lower the A arm to almost vertical pointing down, grab
the spring with your hand and give it a tug.
To replace it, hook the top under the rubber bump, sit the bottom as
close to the perch as possible, give it a kick with your foot.
Just be careful not to kick the car off the jack stands.
Now use a jack to jack up the A arm and reattach the trunion to the
shock.
Springs out in 5 minutes. Back in in about 2.
