I concur with Frank's comments, but woould add this.

The right habd door number is a number recorded by BMIHT and you can
retrieve the chassis number by requesting a BMIHT certificate even if you
have that number only. That was how I found out what my chassis number was
on one of the Bugeyes I have.

There is a number on the right hand floor board (as I stated in a previous
post on this thread), but, I reiterate,  NOT on Bugeyes. It's there, trust
me. It's usually difficult or impossible to see because of rust, dirt and
debris (usually). If your original perforated undercarpet matte is still
there, lift up the carpet and you'll notice a small square is cut out of
it. THAT is where the number is located.
