I just spent the afternoon at the junk yard looking for treasures. I was
looking for the best way to attach belts to the Bugeye. My present
installation tends to compress my spine. While checking about a dozen cars,
both U.S. and foreign, I noticed that pulling rapidly on the shoulder strap
did not lock up the belt. Could it be that every car I checked had a
defective belt, or is it the case that there are different types of "lock up"
mechanisms? I thought they all locked up when you pulled hard on the belt. Do
some have a weight in the base which swings forward to lock it up when you
hit something? Has anyone had any failures with the retracting belts on
LBC's?----Bob C
