Underinflation causes extreme heat buildup. That, in turn causes the glue to
decompose and then the belts separate. Overinflation causes the belts to
break because the glue still holds...
My bro-in-law on my wife's side is a chemical engineer who develops glues
for tires! My daughter (refer to earlier post) bought new tires due to
overinflation (50 lbs.) and broken belts causing the harshest thumping you
ever want to feel in a car...
Kent
The huge majority of "regular people" (not car nuts) out there who don't
bother fiddling with the air that came with the tires, usually are running
10 to 15 lbs. low. They are the ones who are really missing out, and in a
lot of cases, they are dangerous.
