If the blisters are from thin, rusty metal underneath covered over w/ bondo,
try a weak magnet wrapped in a piece of cloth and see how they compare to
other areas. Better yet, try to push a fairly fine point into or very close
to the blisters. You should have your answer immediately. If bad, it doesn't
neccessarily men the deal is scotched, because if caught and treated w/ a
rust stopper from behind, they may never get much worse. I once had an MG
1100 with a row of blisters up the aft edges of both front fenders, and a
good plastering of thick grease stopped it cold. Just be sure the area is
completely dried out. The oils in the grease also creep into the little
crannies and crevises over time. Peter
