Exactly my thoughts too.  Considering the slime that was in the bottom of the 
MC (not to mention the slime you bought the car from), I would think that the 
insides of the brake lines and the "new" rubber connectors must be coated 
with the same crap.  Nothing less, I would think than a rebuilt or new MC, 
blow out and blow alcohol through the brake lines (or install new lines), 
blow out the cleaned lines till dry, and reinstall everything with fresh 
Castrol Brake fluid.  That is the only way you can feel confident driving and 
especially stopping the car.  And stopping is the better part of going.
