what the heck is skat magic grit?
the only media i'd use is glass beads.
anything else will mar up any aluminum you are going to blast and leave it
with an incredibly porous finish. as for stuff like a generator you need to
dismantle it and not blast the inside of the unit. stray media inside can
be washed out with spray cans of CRC's electromotive spray(electric
component friendly degreaser wich will not ruin the insulation on armatures
or field windings). some will argue but, a cleaned radiator with a coat or
two of black engine enamel (gloss black) looks great and stays manageable
after it gets hot once and goes through a "curing cycle".
the master cylinder "must" be dismantled before glass beading or you wil
lpack it with blasting media and find you can not extract the piston due to
the media filling any and all space between the bore and piston.
glass beads are the preferred media because they disintegrate before marring
the machined or specific cast surfaces. most other media (besides crushed
walnut shells and plastic pellets) mar and deform the surfaces before they
break causing ruined finished surfaces. be very-very carefull what media
you use on what surface or in the desire to restore a piece you may be
ruining it! there is a method to this madness. be very carefull, high
air pressure alone can damage delicate items!

chuck.
very sore from yesterday's hillclimb!
