I love poking fun at cats, don't much like them, save the one indoor cat we
have that has managed to get under my skin, but I hope everybody knows cat
bites are extremely dangerous. Dog bites hurt a lot, but dogs open their
mouths a lot and get lots of air flow through, so the bacteria levels aren't
so high, and the chance of infection isn't nearly as great. Cats on the
other hand, rarely open their mouths and their mouths are full of bacteria,
and when they bite, that stuff goes in deep and leads to some nasty
infections. I was in an emergency room once when a severe cat bite victim
came in and the doctors were very concerned, pumped him full of anti-biotics
really fast. One of them told me if you don't take care of a cat bite
quickly, you can be in big trouble. For those contemplating catching a cat,
be careful!
