RE: Rotary Powered LBCs
Listers,
While a Mazda Rotomoto In a Sprite might be a stretch, I seen an amazing
Rotary powered TR4. Peter Petrov at Marina Motors in Venice, CA had a
German customer who just HAD to have a TR4 RIGHT NOW! All Pete could find
quickly was a super clean, original, light blue, early car that had been
owned by the service manager at the local Mazda agency. When the original
Triumph engine needed work, he had scrapped it and put in an RX7 rotary and
5-speed in the car withouy changing much else. I got to drive it before
Peter pulled the Mazda stuff and reinstalled some correct running gear and
shipped it to Germany. The conversion didn't even scratch the underbonnet
paint!
What a riot!! The totally stock looking TR with disc wheels and a weird
non-LBC buzz from the tailpipe was amazingly fast! After that, I was sold
on those Mazda motors. I even went to a few meetings of the local Rotary
Club but never joined - Those guys don't know much about cars!
Cheers,
