I'm no expert (I've only had my car since '80,) but I think 80W oil is a no no in the gearbox. Kinda sticky in cool autumn weather I would think. Every manual I have ever read clearly calls for oil that is basically the same weight as your engine oil. > I've read that using modern 20/50 oil in the gearbox is not the same as > using circa 1967 20/50 oil, because of additives, etc. One site I looked at > recommends using "Castrol EP-80" (SAE 80W); any thoughts about this? |
