Your problem may be your torque wrench.  If it is a "clicker" and you
paid less than $50 for it or you've had it for 20 years and have never
recalibrated it, throw it away (or have it calibrated).  You're better
off with a $20 beam-style wrench.  I had a cheap clicker that
occasionally wouldn't click and I twisted off a head stud that way.
