Hello list. After talking to some other members of this list I am getting my
nerve back up and I went out and got a handheld power sander today and
started taking off some rust. Later in the week I will get the fenders pulled
off and see how much needs to be done there. I can tell now that I will need
alot of sanding wheels. Went through two and didn't cover much space. I was
using 120 grit, should I be using a lower grit to strip off paint and rust?
Some rust has pitted into the metal and the sandpaper didn't touch it, is
there something else I can try to get the rust out of the pits? Also is
fiberglass a good body fill to use on a Sprite? I would like to stay away
from bondo if at all possible. Some areas may scare me as far as the rust
damage but I don't want to send it to a junkyard. I spent to much of my
childhood drooling over this car when it belonged to a friend of the family.
If I give up on it now then I will regret it for the rest of my life.
