jamie,
you need a lower door hinge mount that is a available as a seperate repair
panel. another problem you may be experiencing is a partially siezed or
completly siezed lower door hinge. depending upon the condition of the
cowel exterior metal this may be a good time to repair the lower section of
the cowel along with instalation of the piece that the lower hinge attaches
to.
carefully check your lower hinge for stiffness. if it seems to not pivot
freely remove it and try soaking it with penetrating oil while moving it
frequently to free it up and work oil into the area where the pin and
bishings are. if you do not do this you will tear out a new hinge mounting
plate in no time. most siezed or very stiff hinges can be saved through
some very serious soaking and vigorous movement through it's range of normal
motion . try 2 vise grip pliers attached to it or put in a vise and use one
pair of vise grips to give you enough leverage to overcome any resistance in
the hinge untill it starts to loosen up after working in the oil.
