Tack rags specifically made for autobody finishes can be purchased at any
autobody supply store for about a dollar each. They are the best way I've
found to remove sanding and dust residue.
Even the ones at Home Cheapo will work fine also, I've done many a job with
no trouble. Some are tackier than others but they all seem to work nicely.
I usually finish with 600 grit wet, then wash down with water and a sponge
or wet cloth, let dry, tack it off then spray the color. By the time you've
reached this point solvents won't be needed for cleaning.
I avoid compressed air, seems to stir up too much dust. That's the hardest
part of home jobs, keeping dust down, unless you've got a built in spray
booth!
