Bearings and thrust face

Hi list,

My Haynes manual says the following about front wheel bearings and thrust 
faces:

If the THRUST makings are on the bearing outer races the markings must face 
each other.  If the markings are on the inner races, they must point away 
from each other.

BUT

What if one bearing has the thrust marking on the outer race and the other 
bearing on the inner race - what do you do then  or doesn't it matter.
