When I reserected my 60 Bugeye from the grave 21 years ago one of the
added accessories was a veneered wooden dash. Using 1/16 walnut veneer
and a can of industrial rubber cement it was a fairly easy but tedious
installation. It looks just like the real thing that's because it is
the real thing. Much walnut and other genuine wood furniture is done
this way.
I havent seen an original Bugeye walnut dash before as mentioned on
this list but if such an
animal truly exists then I believe that my dash must look very much like
it.
Today the dash looks just as good as when first installed and
compliments the car very well. If anyone wants a walnut dash for a
Bugeye I believe that this is the best way to do it and most
inexpensive. It requires two small sheets of veneer as it is best to
have a seam in the middle for it is much easier to manage than with one
single sheet over the entire dash. The seam is barely noticeable and
looks perfectly intentual which it is, of course.
