I am not on that side of the pond, but on my visits over there I was very
impressed with the squggly lines Chris is talking about. They are painted as
the double center line on either side of a crosswalk to warn the motorist of
an impending crosswalk. I guess anywhere, here or there, you take your life
in your own hands (or worse, put it int he drivers') when you use a
crosswalk. Many drivers act as though they have never seen one and have no
idea what it is for. I think, from a driver's point of view, when the
straight center lines start lightning bolting it would provide more of an
alert to slow down. Cool idea--as are roundabouts in lower traffic
areas--not near as many damned stops. We US guys have such a love of stop
lights and/or signs that we want one at Every interesection, and we want it
operable 24 hours per day whether there is any traffic or not. 8^)
