FWIW, when I bought the 65 Sprite, the top bows were also to tall. I took the
bows off of the 65 Midget (they worked fine on both cars) and used them as a
pattern to hack saw down the tall set. Now I have a set for each car that work
fine. YMMV, so may your hacksawing skills................
