Perhaps the way I do up my top would help in your situation:
Unfold the top as normal, and pull the frame up and forward about 3/4 of
the way.
Fasten all the rear snaps.
Get in the car and pull the front bow down and latch it to the
windshield frame.
Do the front snaps (if any).
This way you have more leverage on the last little bit of stretching.
