  Most of them had the RR Merlin; only the early Mustangs had Allisons.

  Years ago there was an ad in the back of Autoweek for a New In Crate
-PAIR- of conter-rotating Allisons for a P-38.  $25k.

  I once got to pilot a restored B-17, for about 10 minutes. :-) :-) :-)
