My '62 has Black Plates that are stamped '63 up in the corner, They are the
original plates issued with the car. The back black plate has this covered
up by the current year sticker, but the front still shows.

Gerard,
The black plates were not year stamped; they used stickers. I think you're
remembering the even *older* yellow plates (black letters)...I think they
were the ones year stamped. Of course, now we're going so far back that
memory is suspect.
