My $0.02 on the ebay thing.
Asking someone NOT to bid against you: not bad.
Asking someone to bid on your item to jack up the price: bad.
I posted a note regarding a part I needed. A list member insisted on
sending it to me free. You know who you are, thanks. If he wants
something I have (not likely, but you never know), he gets it free or
cheap. We both sell/shop on ebay. If I see his tag, I won't bid
against him, out of courtesy. That, IMHO, is not undermining or
scheming against anyone, it's just courtesy.
Imagine the list as a room full of people at a car show. While we all
share common interests, in this case LBCs, we are also all different.
When the conversation (or thread) gets boring or off track, change it or
strike up a conversation (or thread) of your own. Don't complain about
it. If it works your nerves, leave the room (list) and come back later.
Also, I think of ebay, as it relates to the list, as the same kind of
"room". If I were to see a friend biding on an item I would probably
not bid against him/her. And, I wouldn't want to take $100 for a $20
jack from a friend. From a stranger? Maybe. Is THAT unethical?
