Hi List,
All this talk of garage heaters had got me slightly jealous on account of the
fact that I don't have any kind of garage let alone a heated one. I do
however, have a cellar where I can take parts to to clean up and work on. I
also have a very nice large Snap-On tool chest but each spanner that goes
into it (2 more on their way from 'Santa') put an increasing strain on the
wooden boxes it is perched on.
So, I quickly left the house when my brother dropped by yesterday to say he
had seen a Snap-On roll cab for sale nearby. Sure enough there it was, with
a tool chest too (not as big or nice a chest as the one I have). Genuine
Snap-On, a bit untidy but the big 7 drawer model and not so old because it
has the drawer handle 'trim' that the earlier stuff didn't have. No, won't
take less than the price on sale but will split chest from roll cab. In the
UK a secondhand roll cab is rarer than a secondhand chest and usually they go
on the van at one stop and sold at the next.
I bought the roll cab straight after I got to the ATM and back and pushed it
all the way home.
'Mrs Daniel' was not as excited as I was about the purchase so I didn't
bother to tell her how much money I had saved by buying it (compared to a new
one) <G>. She wasn't too excited helping me get it down the cellar steps
either (weighs 200lbs). Still, it got there eventually and I have cleaned it
up, cleaned and oiled the drawer slides and even removed, stripped, cleaned,
oiled and re-fitted the wheels.
I just have to start filling it up with some more tools.
