That's what I was thinking--it seems like the U-joint would be unaffected by
the throw of the clutch--it would have to be something that was enacted by
the clutch if it goes away when the clutch is depressed (not to mention the
driver when the noise is prevalent {being depressed, that is}). That doesnt
totally eliminate the U-joint, because SOME pressure would be relieved from
it as the clutch is disengaged, but I would think the first culprit would be
associated with the clutch itsel, perhaps the throw-out!
