rear end noise

Hi guys,
I actually tried Frank's trick of quieting down my car's rear end by putting
cedar shaving in it and it worked. It's still noisier than I would like
however but I'm not sure more shavings is a good idea. What is the max
amount :a fingertip or a whole hand?? Carol
