the type of filter with a ribbon filter element is ok for go karts and mini
bikes! they have a way of leaking from time to time, leading to fire
hazzard. in vintage racing it would be nice to see how clean your filter is
....but.....they are considered unsafe! why are they available in auto
parts houses? the same reason some other stuff that either belongs
strictly on race cars or strictly on custom (not streetable) cars is being
sold. because they CAN sell the stuff. it is up to the public to be an
educated buyer. not al that looks cool is cool! may i sugest using an all
metal can type filter of suficient size and with the correct diameter
nipples to connect in line to your existing system.

oh also there are clear plastic (all plastic) fuel filters out there. as
they age they get more and more brittle. age leads to cracks at the nipples
where the fuel line attaches. this will happen with no warning! and with
an electric pump running ???? how long will it take you before you either
shut it of or get the fire put out? not a pleasant thought! but i do
urge you to carefully consider what you feed your LBC. sometimes cool
stuff and real cheap (new from a store) stuff can really put a damper on a
nice day!

chuck.
be safe and have fun!
