For years now, I have been using NO paper gaskets on these trannies.  I
have used silicone only, and it got rid of all the oil seapage and leaks.
 You must use permatex Ultra Blue or equivelant and use it sparingly. 
Figure .003" for gasket thickness when calculating for the shim
thicknesses on the input and output bearings.  

If you were to use the Ultra Blue with the gasket, then combine the
gasket thickness of .010" with the Blue of .003" for the shim calcs.
