Eric,

As far as the battery goes..
Just run down to Costco, and pick one up. They are made by the same company 
that 
makes the Sears die-hard (johnson controls), better warrently, and are about 
1/2 
the price.

Take off the valve cover, and take a look at the valves, if they are still nice 
and oily, chances are they will probably be OK. You should be able to pick up a 
'remote' starter switch at any of our local autoparts stores.
