  How 'bout shortening the belt and mounting it directly to the vertical
bar of the roll bar?
  One of my favorite seatbelts was the factory rectractable 3-point that
had the upper loop for the shoulder harness mounted that way in my Jeep CJ-7.
  (I think it actually ran from the retractor at the base of the rollbar
vertical, up to a guide on the rollbar vertical just above shoulder height,
and then to the buckle.)
