I saw this one and had to add my $.02 worth. I stopped using lock tabs and use only locktite and have never had a problem. I have rebuilt all the different engines 948s, 1098s, and the 1275. Additionally I do not use tabs on the front damper pulley or the flywheel, only locktite. I have never liked the way the tabs are deformed possibly leaving shaved metal in my engines.
