anti-squeal strips (foil-lined self adhesive strips). Does anyone have
experience with either potential solutions?

I have the same problem in my Mitsubishi. (Midget isn't on the road yet.)
The problem is usually brake dust causing the pads to vibrate. If you don't
clean everything scrupulously, the anti-squeel goo doesn't hold for very long.
Get a big can of CRC Brakleen, take the pads out and pull off the calipers,
and scrape all the old goo off. Then spray Brakleen all over everything,
including the rotors. Make sure the backs of the pads are cleaned off. Let
it dry and reassemble with more anti-squeel goo, and make sure you follow all
the directions. You might have to let the goo dry a little before reassembly.
Hope this helps.
