Windshield question

Am waiting for a call back on windshield and rubber from Sports and Classics. 
 The question was posed whether I want the original Tri-Plex glass or an 
aftermarket.   Assuming they both fit the same, are there any differences 
that are relevant?  The guy at S&C said it would be too hard to explain over 
the phone.  FWIW, the car ('61 bugeye) is not concours, but is an extremely 
nice driver.
