Compression Ratio = (swept volume + unswept volume) / unswept volume Swept volume = engine capacity / 4 ( / = divided by) Unswept volume = TOTAL of combustion chamber, piston dish, gasket, distance (volume) piston is below block, valve cut-outs in block (if any). Example: 1275 engine = 318.75 Swept volume (1275/4) Head 21.00cc Piston dish 6.6cc Bore volume 4.0cc Gasket volume 3.4cc Unswept volume = 35cc 318.75 + 35 / 35 = 10.1 compression ratio This from Mini Mania. Hope it helps. Scott Meyers 60 Bugeye 1275 |
