This would make sense. I just rebuilt one side of the 79 I own (I'll do
the other side after I get the motor back in the Chrysler, the timing
belt on the Volvo, the brakes on the Fiat... You get the idea) because
the wishbone busted at the inner pivot point. It had to be done or the
car could not be driven. With all new bushings in place the right side
is about 3/4 of an inch higher than the other side, but it started out
about 1-3/4" higher. It settled a lot after the first drive and has
settled slowly more since. I think it has stopped now. The bushes were
in really poor shape before.
:
:
:I am tempted to just let it rest until the car can be driven and see if it
:shakes itself out. It's going to be at least January before the car can be
:driven. I may take the springs out and have the spring rate checked before
:then.

:>Larry,
:>
:>I'm really stumped on this "problem". Don't really have an answer for you
:>except why not try an "Italian tune-up". I'm assuming you did not drive
:>this car yet, of course. When I put the front end togehter on my '64,
:>everything was quite "tight" and "snug". I seem to remember that I too
:>could lift the front end without much spring compression. I never gave it a
:>second thought. A few blasts around the block should make everything settle
:>in properly and maybe your "problem" will go away.
:>
:>Not a very scientific answer but just the way I do things: fix it up the
:>best you can and if it looks right, try it out. Usually these things will
:>surprise you!
