Howdy,

Sorry, I haven't had a chance to catch up on my list reading until now,
been kinda busy lately. That is my site and the story is true.

My father is/was a construction worker, building highways, bridges, etc.,
in New Jersey. Anyway we didn't exactly get along so great when I was a
kid. I had a Sprite, a Volvo and a Renault all in various states of
disrepair when I was living with them. My parents lived in a ranch house
and the garage was two cars wide and two cars deep. My Volvo and my Sprite
were in the two spots furthest in and my father decided he wanted to turn
those two bays into a laundry room for my mom. The Sprite had the engine
out of it and was pretty much stripped down for refinishing / rebuilding.
One Saturday my father came home from work and made my brother and I help
him pick up the Sprite and put it in back of the dump bed Ford pickup
truck. He claims he buried it, I didn't go along for the ride to find out.
Needless to say it was a pretty awful day and didn't exactly help my
relationship with my father. That was in 1978, so that car has been
underground for 20 years now, I doubt there is anything left of it. The
same fate befell my Renault LeCar about a year later.

Funny thing is, it's 20 years later and my father loves my Midget, it's one
of the few things we can talk about and have in common (he restores old
motorcycles). He doesn't even realize that it is the exact same car he
buried all of those years ago, and I have no desire to bring it up when I'm
around him.

The Sprite is *probably* under a cement footing for some rt. 78 overpass,
right next to Jimmy Hoffa ;-)

Sad and strange, but true,

Robert Weeks
