The K&N filter for the Sprite and Midget is just 70 pounds (about $100 or so)
from Moss in the UK!
I have my doubts about VB's pricing. The Mountney steering wheels they're
selling for, what is it, $169 (from memory) are less than $100 from Moss UK.
Even with shipping, if you buy a few things at the same time it'll still work
out cheaper.
I think the best savings are on the accessory items.

> The K&N filter with sprite or midget writtten on it and built in "velocity
stacks" is a good filter, but not worth the price. I have not flowed this
filter
on a bench, but notice no increase in power in use on my car. Also of note is
that when I busted a stud on this unit K&N told me that the filters were made
by
K&N Europe, are no longer being produced and no replacement parts are
available.
They might come up the replacement filter if I could give them the number.
Also
the acorn nuts that hold it together need a 10mm wrench to R&R.
> Two grade 5 bolts, 1hr on the lathe, two 1/4" acorn nuts and two hex
nuts later the filter functions again. I notice that in the spring 1998 VB
catalog that the "sprite" filter is now $264.95 while the "midget" filter is
$199.95 the only difference in these two units is the name written on them, so
the sprite filters must be getting rare.
> On the plus side the backing plate with "velocity stacks" makes it easy
to remove the carbs as a unit from the intake manifold.
