steering rack lubrication

hello,

does anyone know the correct lubricant for the steering
rack in a '69 Midget? The owners manual says gear oil
in one section then says grease in another section. if
it is gear oil, how do you get the oil in the rack? is
there a special oil gun? i can't imagine oil would work
in the grease gun.
